Our History
The Lions Rugby Union Club was established in 1988 and is based at Anthony Short Oval, Cairns-Cowan Drive, Karana Downs.
The Club currently runs teams in the Brisbane Junior Rugby Union (BJRU) competition for boys and girls aged between 4 and 13 and extends an invitation to any youngsters, female and male, to come down for a run.
The Lions Rugby Union Club welcomes anyone who has a love of rugby union to join us at our friendly clubhouse every Friday where we have a fully licensed bar, BBQ and canteen facilities.
Our big screen TV regularly has the Super Rugby and Test matches playing, interspersed by the occasion foray into the dark side of State of Origin matches.
Members, guests and local community are all welcome to sit back at the end of a hard week on our spacious deck and enjoy this great community facility. Kids have ample room to play under the close watch of parents via the playground and two full size rugby union playing fields.
