Social:
A great social scene is the backbone to any great rugby club, and the Lions are no exception! Lions Rugby Union Club runs a Canteen and a Licensed Bar which is open for each training night, home games and selected social events. The canteen provides a great opportunity to mingle with fellow club members and other people from around the community. (Please drink responsibly and drive safely.)
During the season we a large projector screen that we play Rugby Super XV (18) matches, Wallabies games and other inspiring sport events. The aim is to engender an interest in rugby for our young Lions and of course a great social event for our fantastic Mums and Dads. If we can find the volunteers, than we may consider opening for State of Origin nights as well.
As we get into the season we will be adding more social events to the calendar. Initial committee thoughts are ‘movies under the stars’, ‘theme nights’, golf days and attending a Reds game. If you have any suggestions or great ideas please let one of our friendly committee members know.
AGM and Presentation Day take place shortly after season completion. (Tentative date 25th Aug)

Parent Participation:
The running and management of the Lions Rugby Union Club is only made possible through the help of our dedicated volunteers. Volunteering is fun, easy and extremely flexible.
The Lions Rugby Union Club volunteers are affectionately known as LION PACK. This large group of generous humans are significant in our Club. The LION PACK provides the helping hand to make sure every crucial area on training and game day is achieved and runs smoothly. But more than this, it brings together our local community and ignites the family that the Lions Rugby Union Club is to so many. The Lion PACK set the atmosphere on training and game day, from the smiles they give when people walk in, to the service we provide in the canteen, BBQ and behind the bar.
If you’d like to volunteer please see one our committee members, volunteers are the lifeblood of this club.
Sponsorship
The intention of the Lions Rugby Union Club was, and still is, to provide a fun, sociable sporting atmosphere for all the Lions Rugby Union Club players and members. Our vision is to be the club of choice for rugby union participants within the Karana Downs, Mount Crosby, Karalee, Bellbowrie and surrounding areas.
We have four main objectives as part of our 2017 – 2019 Strategic Plan which are;
- To be financially viable and sustainable
- To increase community based participation
- To improve the existing facility
- Develop a sustainable player base with a focus on female inclusion
This coming 2018 season is looking to be bigger and better than ever, with plans to continue all of the above good work, plus improving our facility by refurbishing the existing irrigation system and some major alterations to our clubhouse. These improvements will unquestionably provide a more enhanced facility for our young players and members to enjoy.
With proposed player base increases, and over 100 persons on the membership list, the administration and organisation of the Lions Rugby Union Club naturally results in some financial outlay (uniforms, catering, coaching clinics, web page administration, awards, etc.). For this reason the Lions Rugby Union Club (a not-for-profit incorporation) have solicited financial donations/contributions to offset the costs for the 2018 calendar year.
Thank you once more to our generous sponsors! Your support is not something we take lightly and is very much appreciated by everyone connected with the club. We hope that we will live up to our achievements of previous years.
